The Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has announced that it would close accounts that have been inactive for over five years.
MIB said that it has over 951 accounts that are not currently in use and that their operators have been notified.
The bank has also publicized a list of accounts that have not been in use.
MIB will close the accounts sixty days after, on the 6th of August, and the funds will be handed over to the state’s central bank, the Maldives Monetary Authority.
The funds can be recovered by applying for it with the bank.
