JP heads to Court over EC order not to use flag, logo
Party made the decision in National Steering Committee meeting on Sunday night

Jumhooree Party (JP) has announced that the Party will initiate legal measures over the Elections Commission (EC) order, which had ordered the Party to cease using their flag and logo.
A tweet issued by the Party’s official twitter account in Dhivehi, said the Party had arrived at this decision during the Steering Committee meeting held on Sunday night. However, the Party had not revealed when they will begin the legal proceedings.
Referring to the procedures issued by Home Ministry regarding the use of the national flag, EC had sent a letter to the Party, stating the Party’s logo and flag mimicked that of the standard used by the President. The letter ordered the Party to change the logo and flag before the 1st of June.
The Party had refused to obey the orders, stating that such an order cannot be issued by the Commission. The logo and flag had been used by the Party since 2005.
