Covid-19 measures will only be enforced in light of situation: HEOC

Island councils will be notified

There will be arrangements for students under a certain age group, to attend school if monitoring measures are prolonged

Monitoring measures are placed after discussions with respective task forces

The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has revealed that safety measures against Covid-19 will only be enforced across outlying atolls, in light of the present situation.

During the latest press conference hosted by HEOC, Dr. Abdulla Mauroof revealed that measures are only enforced in light of the situation in the respective islands and that schools in the islands will also be closed after the islands are placed under monitoring.

However, if the monitoring measures are prolonged, there will be arrangements for students under a certain age group, to attend school.

Dr. Mauroof revealed that this is currently being followed in some islands and that if an island is brought under monitoring, island councils will be informed and that it is done only after discussions are held with the task forces in the respective islands.

This comes at a time there have been rising concerns due to authorities not implementing stricter measures across outlying atolls, despite infections surging across atolls.

Authorities continue to urge the public to receive their vaccination shots and adhere to measures in place, in order to help curb complications from the virus/
