Maldives Police Service (MPS) has confirmed that they have received the preliminary report of the post-mortem carried out on the 13-year-old boy who was found murdered in Hulhumale’ in early June.
The body was sent to India’s Trivandrum Government Medical College to run an autopsy on July 5 two weeks after he was killed, and was brought back and buried on the 12th.
Police have not publicized any details regarding the findings of the post-mortem.
Police discovered the boy's body in the early hours of June 22, he was reported missing on the 20th. The body was stuffed inside a suitcase and thrown into the sea around the Hulhumalé second phase area which is prohibited to the general public.
The arrest of two suspects was revealed the same day as the discovery of the body, a 27-year-old and a 17-year-old. They were found and arrested in hiding at a guesthouse in the capital after committing the crime, and were reportedly present at the scene when the officers pulled the suitcase with the body out of sea.
Police assured that this “heinous crime is being investigated with utmost diligence”.
