Police have stated that the 13-year-old abduction and murder victim, whose body was sent to Trivandrum for an autopsy earlier this month, has been returned and buried.
They revealed that the body was brought back to Malé, and buried on Monday.
The 13-yo's body was sent for the autopsy on July 5, two weeks after he was killed. Police have not publicized any details regarding the findings of the post mortem which was performed by the Government Medical College of Trivandrum in India.
Police discovered the boy's body in the early hours of June 22, he was reported missing on the 20th. The body was stuffed inside a suitcase and thrown into the sea around the Hulhumalé second phase area which is prohibited to the general public.
The arrest of two suspects was revealed the same day as the discovery of the body, a 27-year-old and a 17-year-old. They were found and arrested in hiding at a guesthouse in the capital after committing the crime, and were reportedly present at the scene when the officers pulled the suitcase with the body out of sea.
It has been revealed that the Family and Child Protection Services had worked with the family of the murdered boy, to provide social support to him.
Police assured that this “heinous crime is being investigated with utmost diligence”.
