ADK Hospital yet to re-extend Aasandha services
ADK said that it would extend Aasandha services after renewing its agreement with the company
The government had earlier suspended Aasandha Health Insurance for privately-owned health centers
The company had later withdrawn this decision, though ADK said it has not been officially informed of this

The privately owned ADK Hospital has still not extended Aasandha insurance services after the health scheme’s provider had discontinued it to outlets that are not operated by the state.

The hospital said on Thursday that it has not been officially informed by the Aasandha Company that the scheme has been extended to privately owned health facilities again. ADK said that it would extend Aasandha services after renewing its agreement with the company.

Aasandha, Maldives’ public health insurance scheme, said that the decision to suspend services on Saturday was made due to ongoing amendments to regulations as to how the scheme is to be implemented.

The press statement announcing this decision stated that the Aasandha would amend particular criteria under which the service is extended and that its current policies are not entirely sustainable.

A statement from the Aasandha Corporation said that the scheme is established through a yearly contract and that the terms agreed upon at the beginning of 2016 had been scheduled to expire this year.

However, on Monday, the government absolved itself of responsibility for the state-owned company’s decision after Aasandha released a press statement announcing that Maldives’ health scheme would again include privately-owned outlets.
