Have been impartial in corruption investigations: Luthufee

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) President Hassan Luthufee has defended his agency, stating that they have remained impartial through their various investigations.

He made the statement speaking in the opening ceremony of the National Symposium on Anti-Corruption.

Luthufee said that the Commission had been plagued with accusations that they use their powers to either expedite or stall certain cases. Stating that this was a baseless one, he said the Commission had remained impartial and maintained their integrity at all times.

Luthufee further noted there were many steps to proving a corruption case, which in many times is a lengthy and an arduous process. He added that it was extremely difficult to fully liberate a nation from corruption.

However, he assured that in spite of the difficulties, ACC will remain committed to following their mandate and will collaborate with other agencies in the process of investigations.

Luthufee said the two-day Symposium, held in collaboration between ACC and Islamic University, will seek to strengthen ACC processes. Additionally, the symposium will seek to address the challenges facing Prosecutor General (PG) and the recovery of cash and assets lost due to corruption.
