Bank of Maldives (BML) has strengthened its presence in Raa Atoll with the opening of a new BML Islamic branch in Dhuvaafaru.
Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib inaugurated the branch during an event held on the island on Saturday.
The branch was unveiled in the presence of the bank’s Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb as well as Deputy CEO & COO Sahar Waheed.

In a press release, the country’s national bank revealed that the new branch at Dhuvaafaru will offer a full range of Islamic banking services revolving around the “Islamic Finance First” policy in providing banking services.
The latest branch opening marks a significant milestone in BML’s continued expansion, reinforcing its status as the nation’s premier financial institution. With a presence now spanning all 20 atolls through 40 branches, the bank also operates 133 Self-Service Banking Centers, 188 ATMs, and an extensive Agent Banking network.
Complementing its physical infrastructure, BML remains focused on enhancing its digital banking capabilities and forging strategic partnerships to better serve the changing needs of its customers.
BML opened its inaugural branch in the capital, Malé City, in 1982. Committed to advancing financial inclusion, the national bank has steadily expanded its footprint to ensure access to banking services across every island. The newly launched branch in Dhuvaafaru marks BML’s 40th location nationwide.
