The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that 11 individuals have been fined for operating land vehicles during prohibited hours in the capital Malé City and Vilimalé as part of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

The police institution highlighted that 141 individuals were given warnings for driving vehicles during prohibited times, while 11 individuals were fined.

Three vehicles were towed, and the police institution noted that these vehicles were towed for dangerous driving, driving with an expired license, and driving without any license at all.

On the Eid al-Adha day of 1446, driving motorized land vehicles was prohibited in Malé and Vilimalé from 4pm to 6pm.

Many activities were also carried out in Malé City in connection with Eid al-Adha. Special evening events for children were held at Jumhooree Maidan, Sultan Park, as well as Central Park in Hulhumalé and Hiyaa Park area in Hulhumalé Phase II during the evening of Eid day.

The Eid activities organized by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), with the participation of government ministries, various state institutions, and companies, also received a great response.

The prohibition of vehicle driving during the evening hours on Eid day is implemented to create a safe and secure environment, as many people, including many children, gather on the streets. Multiple activities are carried out in different areas of Malé City during Eid. Prohibiting vehicle movement makes it easier to conduct these activities and allows more people to participate in the events.
