Two individuals have been arrested as part of a drug operation conducted by the police in Hirilandhoo Island of Thaa Atoll.
The operation was carried out on November 11 by the Hirilandhoo Police Station.
Ahmed Sinan, 37, and native to Hirilandhoo Island, and Ahmed Madheeh, 34, and native to capital Malé City, were arrested in connection with the drug bust.
A residence in Hirilandhoo was searched under a court order after the arrests were made. Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that officers who raided the residence confiscated 24 rubber packets filled with suspected narcotics.
Upon being presented to the Hirilandhoo Magistrate Court for a remand hearing, the two suspects were remanded for a seven-day period.
According to the police institution, further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case at the Hirilandhoo Police Station.
