A 36-year-old man has died in a fatal crash on the Addu City Feydhoo Link Road.

The accident occurred when a car collided with a motorcycle.

According to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), the accident was reported to them at around 7:30pm on Saturday.

The person who died in the accident has been identified as Ibrahim Siyad, 36 and native to Feydhoo district of the southernmost city. The police institution cited the Feydhoo Health Center having confirmed that he was already dead when rushed to the health center.

The car involved in the crash was being driven by a 23-year-old man who has been identified as Mohamed Mahil Mumtaz from Fiyoaree island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll. He has since been taken into police custody.

The police institution went on to reveal that they further investigations are underway in connection with the case. They also stated that they will share additional information related to the fatal crash when it becomes available.
