Operational tourist facilities
1,139 tourist facilities operational by Wednesday
Maldives currently has a capacity of 1,140 tourist facilities, which include 154 safari vessels, 793 guesthouses, 15 hotels, and 178 resorts. This means that of the total facility capacity, one resort has yet to resume operations.

1,139 tourist accommodation establishments are currently operational across the Maldives.

This was revealed by the latest weekly statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday.

As such, the ministry’s figures revealed that as of January 29, the number of operational tourist accommodation facilities across the Maldives sat at 1,139. The guesthouses span across 116 islands of 19 atolls, with hotels operational on nine islands of eight atolls and resorts operational across 177 islands of 19 atolls. 69 percent of the bed capacity is occupied by resorts, followed by 23 percent occupied by guesthouses, five percent by safari vessels, and three percent by hotels.

Presently, a total of 61,838 tourist beds are in operation across these facilities, which include 177 resorts, 793 guesthouses, 15 hotels, and 154 live-aboard vessels.

The beds operational across these facilities include 43,306 in resorts, 2,023  in hotels, 13,381 in guesthouses, and 3,128 in live-aboard vessels.

According to the latest weekly statistics by the tourism ministry, tourist facilities currently in operation are:

  • Two resorts and 21 guesthouses across islands of Haa Alif atoll,
  • Two resorts, one hotel and 13 guesthouses across islands of Haa Dhaal atoll,
  • 17 resorts, one hotel and five guesthouses across islands of Raa atoll,
  • 16 resorts, one hotel and 67 guesthouses across islands of Baa atoll,
  • 11 resorts and 136 guesthouses across islands of Alif Alif atoll,
  • 17 resorts, one hotel and 94 guesthouses across islands of Alif Dhaal atoll,
  • One resort and six guesthouses across islands of Faafu atoll,
  • Nine resorts and eight guesthouses across islands of Dhaalu atoll,
  • One resort and nine guesthouses across islands of Thaa atoll,
  • Two resorts and 10 guesthouses across islands of Gaaf Dhaal atoll,
  • Two resorts and eight guesthouses across islands of Shaviyani atoll,
  • Eight resorts and 13 guesthouses across islands of Noonu atoll,
  • 12 resorts and three guesthouses across islands of Lhaviyani atoll,
  • 59 resorts, eight hotels and 279 guesthouses across islands of Kaafu atoll,
  • Five resorts, one hotel and 52 guesthouses across islands of Vaavu atoll,
  • Three resorts and six guesthouses across islands of Meemu atoll,
  • Two resorts and three guesthouses across islands of Laamu atoll,
  • Six resorts, one hotel and 15 guesthouses across islands of Gaaf Alif atoll,
  • 26 guesthouses in Fuvahmulah City,
  • Two resorts, one hotel and 19 guesthouses across districts of Addu City in Seenu atoll
