The number of tourist accommodation establishments operational across the Maldives, has risen.
This was revealed by the latest daily statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Monday.
As such, the ministry’s figures revealed that as of April 27, the number of operational tourist accommodation facilities across the Maldives sat at 1,167. The guesthouses span across 108 islands of 20 atolls, with hotels operational on nine islands of eight atolls and resorts operational across 172 islands of 19 atolls. 68 percent of the bed capacity is occupied by resorts, followed by 23 percent occupied by guesthouses, five percent by liveaboard vessels, and four percent by hotels.
Presently, a total of 61,647 tourist beds are in operation across these facilities, which include 170 resorts, 822 guesthouses, 16 hotels, and 157 live-aboard vessels.
The beds operational across these facilities include 42,085 in resorts, 2,310 in hotels, 14,072 in guesthouses, and 3,180 in live-aboard vessels.
