The public participating in rallies against the massive delay in handing over plots of land and flats, have stressed that the current Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib is hiding from the public after failing to handover plots and flats, and this is an act of oppression.
The public made these statements while providing information to RaajjeTV during a protest held on Sunday in the region where the housing ministry is located, regarding the delays in allocating plots of land and flats.
Participants of the movement organized by several associations regarding the issue of plots and flats have stated that the government's prolonged delay in allocating plots and flats is “very disappointing”.
They have highlighted that the housing ministry’s lack of information about the 4,000 flats allocated by the former administration is a major concern. The public has also questioned on what basis the ministry claims to have suspended appointments to meet with the minister currently. The public has stated that they cannot understand how an issue can be resolved when the minister remains silent, and hiding from the public.
Further, the public stated that even when Haidar was the housing minister, no appointments were scheduled for any of the forms submitted requesting appointments. Protesters have also described this as mockery towards the public. Although the current administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu came to power promising not to hide anything from the public, they seem to have forgotten that promise after coming to power, one protester said. However, the public has stated that obtaining information from the incumbent administration is extremely difficult and that they do not proactively provide clarity on any matter.
This comes at a time the Fahi Union Association had addressed 32 letters and 53 appointment requests with the former housing minister, but he refused to respond or meet with the public.
