R. Alifushi is off to a good start in the ongoing Ninety Plus Gold Cup football tournament, after defeating B. Kendhoo in a group stage match.
Alifushi and Kendhoo went head-to-head in the group stage match played at the Galolhu National Stadium after sundown on Monday.
Alifushi defeated Kendhoo with a score of 5 – 1.
Alifushi scored early in the match and took the lead. Hussain Nihan took the lead for the team.
Adam Imran scored the second goal for Alifushi in the match, with Ahmed Husham scoring the third goal.
Before scoring, he had missed a penalty kick in an opportunity to score.
Alifushi scored their remaining goals in the final moments of the game. The team’s fourth goal was scored by Nihan, followed by the fifth goal scored by Imran.
Kendhoo’s only goal in the game was scored by Rashaadh Abdul Matheen.
During the second half of the match, the stadium lights went out, resulting in a temporary suspension. Although the lighting system at Galolhu Stadium had been repaired recently due to issues faced previously, the lights malfunctioned twice during Monday night’s game.
With the victory against Kendhoo, Alifushi tops Group D. The team is in first place with three points, Naifaru following close in second place with three points as well. Alifushi claimed the top spot due to a superior goal difference.
