President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has returned after concluding his trip to Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan.
The Maldivian leader returned home on Friday morning, following the completion of his visits to Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan.
Muizzu’s trip to Saudi Arabia was to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit.
He then headed to Azerbaijan to participate in the 29th meeting of the Parties to the Climate Convention (COP29). In Azerbaijan's capital Baku, Muizzu spoke about the importance of obtaining funding for climate-related issues.
While Muizzu has highlighted the government's high priority on climate change in his speeches during this trip, it is to be noted that he was not someone who believed climate change was a reality when he came to power.
