Drugs being smuggled into the Maldives by sea have been seized and brought under police custody.
The narcotics were confiscated during a joint operation conducted by officials of the Maldives Customs Service and the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
The police institution revealed that the drugs were brought under police custody after inspecting a container at the Malé Port in collaboration with customs.
The operation was conducted after sundown on November 10. During the inspection of the container by the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) and Customs, five rubber packets filled with suspected narcotics were discovered. MPS revealed that the provisional weight of the narcotics was 3.280 kilograms.
No arrests have been made in connection with the case so far.
However, further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
