The man who was arrested for assaulting his 57-year-old mother, threatening to stab and kill her, and robbing her, has been remanded.
Mohamed Ismail, 28, was arrested under a court order on Tuesday.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received the report at around 6:17pm on Monday.
MPS responded to reports of a woman screaming from an apartment in Hiyaa Tower 13, Hulhumalé Phase II.
When officers arrived at the apartment and knocked on the door, a woman is to have opened the door. The woman’s son is to have assaulted her, threatened to stab and kill her and fled after robbing her phone.
Upon being presented to the Hulhumalé Magistrate Court for his remand hearing, the man was remanded for a 10-day period.
The woman was treated for injuries attained in the assault, at the hospital and released sometime on Monday evening.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
