President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced several measures to reduce public expenditure.

In a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Thursday, the president shed light on a series of strict measures to be implemented in a bid to cut down public expenditure, especially recurring expenses.

Some of the measures to be implemented in this effort include reducing the number of political posts within his administration.

Further, unnecessary celebratory events are also to be limited or even cancelled overall.

Muizzu has also announced that celebrations to commemorate this year’s Independence Day would also be significantly scaled down.

As such, the administration plans to exclude the usual float procession, official reception, and festivities.

Instead of this, the president revealed that celebrations will be limited to the official function marking Independence Day.

This is expected to considerably reduce state expenses.

In addition to this, the president also shed light on the upcoming announcement of additional measures to further reduce public expenditure, in the near future.
