President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping has expressed enthusiasm for strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the governments of China and the Maldives.

He said this in a letter addressed to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The Chinese president’s letter was presented to Muizzu by Ambassador of China to Maldives Wang Lixin, during a courtesy call paid on Saturday.

The meeting was held at Mulee'aage, the official residence of the president.

The congratulatory letter was presented to the Maldivian leader on the occasion of his birthday.

In his letter, the President of China offered his sincere greetings and best wishes to Muizzu and shed light on the importance of the relations enjoyed between the two countries.

Expressing enthusiasm to enhance the China – Maldives comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, the Chinese president stated that he looks forward to work jointly to build a community with a shared future for the people of both countries.

Expressing gratitude to the ambassador for personally delivering the letter, Muizzu expressed tremendous pleasure in having received it.

Muizzu also wrote a congratulatory message to the Chinese president, who celebrates his birthday on the same day.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around enhancing collaboration and improving bilateral relations between the two countries.

Further, the Maldivian president and the Chinese ambassador discussed future agreements and upcoming collaborative development initiatives.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chinese ambassador noted that the government of China is resolute in its commitment to assist the economic development of Maldives.

She also inquired about areas where the government of Maldives requires additional assistance.

Before concluding the meeting, they expressed mutual confidence that the bilateral relationship between both countries would continue to bear fruit in the future.
