Discussions have been held on efforts to expedite national progress.

The discussions took place during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla on Monday.

The meeting took place at the President’s Office.

Discussions revolved around efforts to expedite national progress.

Further, President Muizzu and the parliament speaker also discussed efforts to achieve economic progress and addressing changes to the environment.

They also touched upon efforts to enhance the protection of the environment.

The Majlis speaker assured President Muizzu that the People’s Majlis would provide full support towards his administration’s vision for the country’s development.

The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has a supermajority in the 20th tenure of parliament which began on 28 May 2024.

As such, out of the 93 lawmakers of the 20th parliament, 75 MPs represent the ruling party.

Some people have been asserting that the new parliament tenure will be less efficient, with the opposition raising concerns over the government’s influence in running the parliament.
