Judges appointed to two magistrate courts have taken their oath of office.

The judges were appointed to the Kudahuvadhoo Magistrate Court in Dhaal atoll as well as the Funadhoo Magistrate Court, in Shaviyani atoll.

The ceremony to handover the letters of appointment and administer their oath of office was held on Sunday.

The ceremony took place at the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA).

Yasir Mohamed, a native of Veyvah island in Meemu atoll, was sworn in as a new magistrate at Kudahuvadhoo Magistrate Court.

Yasir attained his Bachelor of Shariah and Law from Villa College and had been serving as the legal officer at the Kudahuvadhoo Magistrate Court, prior to his appointment.

He has spent three years in service in the judicial sector.

Further, R. Maduvvari native Ibrahim Naeem was appointed a new magistrate at the Funadhoo Magistrate Court.

Naeem attained his Bachelor of Shariah and Law from the Islamic University of Maldives and holds a Master of Shariah and Law from Villa College as well.

Naeem’s service to the judicial sector spans over five years and prior to his appointment, Naeem served as a legal officer at the magistrate court in Thulusdhoo island of Kaafu atoll.
