President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been briefed on the development requirements of Eydhafushi island in Baa atoll.

This was done during a meeting held between the president and the members of the Eydhafushi council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC).

During the meeting held at the President's Office on Sunday, the councilors shared the island community’s concerns with the president, including space constraints in the island’s harbor, the need to repair the revetment used for shore protection as well as increasing housing opportunities for the residents.

Discussions also revolved around upgrading the office building of the council secretariat and improving healthcare services in the Baa Atoll Hospital.

Shedding light on the island's road development project, councilors stated that there were additional roads to be developed and that work on the unfinished roads has to be speeded-up.

Further, councilors stressed on the need for a futsal ground for the island’s youth population.

The meeting also saw Eydhafushi WDC members highlighting on the need for a handball court.

Listening to these concerns, President Solih noted that the government has found solutions to most of the concerns raised at their previous meeting.

He also assured the council and WDC members that the incumbent administration will address their concerns and find amicable solutions through consultations with the relevant ministries.

President Solih went on to highlight that development projects for the island will be included in the budget for next year after discussions are held with key stakeholders.
