The project of renovating and developing the harbor of Kanduohgiri island of Male' atoll has been handed over to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The project was handed over to MTCC by the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture on May 18, 2022.
The Ministry states that the project was contracted to MTCC as part of the project to develop fisheries infrastructure with the assistance of the Saudi Fund for development aid.
Fisheries Ministry states that the harbor of Kanduohgiri will be relocated to the west side of the harbor and that the entrance to the port will be expanded. Ministry highlights that the fishermen will be able to use the harbor without any difficulties in all weather conditions with the new developments.
The project was contracted to be completed within 414 days and MTCC assures that work will begin in two months time.
Once the harbor development is completed, fishermen will be able to access water, ice, and diesel, with less hassle.
