Maldives condemns attack on Saudi oil port, Aramco residential area

Maldives has condemned the attacks targeting an oil port and Aramco residential areas of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement released in connection to the attacks on the petroleum tank farms at Ras Tanura Port in the Eastern Region and targets towards residential area in Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the government strongly condemned the attacks, describing it to be cowardly.

The government expressed that the deliberate and cowardly attacks targeting residential areas and economic infrastructure “clearly” violates international laws and threatens the security of the Saudi Kingdom and the region together with the stability of global energy supplies.

Highlighting that such “deplorable” acts of terrorism also have a negative impact on the positive developments including finding peaceful solutions to the conflicts in the region, the Maldivian government re-affirmed solidarity with the brotherly people and government of Saudi Arabia.

Maldives reiterated its “steadfast” and resilient commitment in the fight against all forms and manifestations of terrorism.

A drone and ballistic missile in attacked the oil port and residential area of Aramco in the eastern region of Saudi Kingdom on Sunday. International media reports that the attack came from the direction of the sea.

International media has also reported that no injuries or property damage was reported in either attack, while Saudi Aramco’s residential area in Dhahran is home to thousands of employees and their families.
