The Gender Ministry has declared they will be providing assistance to families who wish to relocate from Male' City due to difficult living situations in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gender Minister Aishath Mohamed Didi made the announcement through a status update on her Facebook account. Minister Aishath revealed that the ministry had become aware that many families had been struggling to make ends meet in Male' City due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and that Gender would help those who wish to relocate from Male' return to their native islands or other islands of their choice.

The Gender Minister appealed for families who wished to relocate from Male' to reach out to the ministry though their 1421 hotline.

While the Gender Ministry has pledged their assistance to those families who must leave Male' due to financial difficulties, the ministry has been providing continuous support to vulnerable groups at a time the nation has been struggling against Covid-19. The Gender Ministry has been providing social support services to those who have been left homeless in Male' City following the pandemic, and those who have fallen victim to drug addiction, along with facilitating means of travel to those who had been trapped in Male' when the city had been locked down last year.

In addition to this, the Gender Ministry has provided aid to people who had their employment and income affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and those who have struggled to make rent and utility payments due to the resulting economic fallout. The Ministry has also been providing care packages to those in need of them outside of the Male' region, tracking the status of vulnerable groups and families in need of social support on those islands placed under monitoring due to Covid-19.
