Maafushi Prison back to normal after reports of intruders

Maafushi Prison was brought to a state of emergency on Wednesday night, following reports of possible intruders.

Commissioner of Prisons, Ahmed Mohamed said they received reports of possible intruders inside the prison at around 8:50pm on Wednesday.

While Mohamed assured that all prisoners were accounted for at the time of the tweet, a search operation was launched inside the prison to locate the intruders.

A little over an hour later, the prisons’ commissioner tweeted that the prison was back to normal after the search revealed the intruder report to be false.

Further, Mohamed said that the prison was returned to normalcy after ensuring that no prisoners had escaped amid the commotion.
