Qatar Airways have increased flight frequency to the Maldives on account of increased passenger demand, from three flights a day to 4 four.

Qatar Airways was the first airline to resume operations to the Maldives after having ceased flights when borders were closed earlier this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On 10 December, Qatar increased the number of daily flights to Maldives to three due to high customer demand.

They have increased this number once again, announcing that they will now be operating four flights a day to the Maldives, saying that this was the best time to visit the island nation.

The Middle-East remains one of the biggest tourist markets for Maldives following re-opening of borders, and Qatar Airways operates flights to Maldives from 65 locations across the world. It is expected that the number of daily tourist arrivals to Maldives will increase with the additional flights.

One month after the Maldives had re-opened borders for tourist arrivals, a Twitter poll hosted by Qatar saw an overwhelming majority of their passengers choose Maldives as their preferred travel destination, with 73.1 percent of voters expressing their desire to visit Maldives in the near future.

There are currently over 20 airlines operating to the Maldives currently including Uzbekistan Airways who resumed operations to the country on Wednesday as well. 266 passengers traveled to Maldives via Wednesday's flight.
