Maldives tourist arrivals since border reopening has exceeded 115,000.
According to the latest statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday, Maldives has welcomed a total of 115,730 tourists from the date of border reopening, up until Wednesday.
With 23,226 arrivals, Russia remains the top source market for Maldives tourism since border reopening, followed by India with 18,758 arrivals.
The United Kingdom comes third with 12,372 tourist arrivals, 6,715 tourists also arrived from the United States of America.
Other top tourist markets include United Arab Emirates with 5,480 arrival, Germany with 5,393 arrivals and Ukraine, with 3,742.
Further, 3,109 visitors were recorded from France, followed by 2,664 visitors from Spain and 2,517 visitors from Brazil.
Maldives welcomed its 500,000th visitor of the year on Thursday, with a grand ceremony with cultural festivities and gifts bestowed upon the tourist. Kristin Madeleine arrived from Germany via Emirates Airline.
Until Maldives closed borders for international travel on March 27, 382,760 arrivals were recorded by the ministry.
The country reopened borders on July 15 and within that month, 1,701 arrivals were recorded. The number began escalating over the course of the next few months and within the first two weeks of December, 39,589 tourists had arrived in the Maldives.
While Maldives started with as little as 113 daily average in arrivals during July, this has since increased to an average of 2,474 daily arrivals.
By Wednesday, a total of 445 tourist facilities had begun operating with 38,645 beds across the scatter of islands. This includes 138 resorts with 32,212 beds, 178 hotels and guesthouses with 3,936 beds and 129 safari vessels with 2,497 beds.
Since the reopening of borders, Maldives recorded 100,000 arrivals in less than five months; the 100,000th visitor, Jasmin Burki, was welcomed to the island nation on December 12.
