Director of Universal Enterprises, Dr. Ibrahim Umar Manik passed away early Thursday morning, at the age of 68.
He passed away while receiving treatment in Singapore. Dr. Manik was seeking treatment for a heart-related ailment in the southeastern Asian country.
Manik is the younger sibling of well-known businessman, Mohamed Umar Manik or commonly known as M.U. Manik.
Dr. Manik worked at Central Hospital for a long period, and was the first doctor to practice anesthesia in the Maldives.
