BML donates MVR 50,000 to Family Legal Clinic

Bank of Maldives (BML) has on Wednesday donated MVR 50,000 to Family Legal Clinic (FLC).

The donation was made on the occasion International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, marked on November 25.

A ceremonial cheque was presented to FLC’s Chairperson, Shafeea Riza, by the bank’s CEO and Managing Director, Tim Sawyer, at a ceremony held on Wednesday morning.

The national bank noted that the donation is to be used for FLC’s Legal Aid programme; the programme aims to provide legal assistance to individuals in need and will also support the outreach and awareness programmes organized by non-governmental organizations.

At the ceremony held in the morning. CEO Sawyer said thanked the FLC for its “continuous effort over the past six years to eliminate violence against women”.

The Family Legal Clinic thanked BML for the support to their work, adding that it will be used towards “advocacy and outreach to further promote access to justice for those that need it the most”.
