MP Faris Maumoon, who has spearheaded the motions of no-confidence against the parliament speaker and his deputy, said that the government has made a point to ‘prosecute whenever we attain that number or more’.
42 is the number of signatures required to file motions against the parliament speaker, as per the amendments the parliament passed on 10th April.
The amendments themselves came after Maumoon and the opposition filed a motion against speaker Abdulla Maseeh with 31 signatures.
MP Faris Maumoon had mentioned Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim’s arrest, to say that is confident in Qasim’s commitment to the opposition effort.
The MP, who is also facing prosecution for charges he has described as politically motivated, also gave assurance of his own perseverance.
