Case filed with police over MP Ismail Mohamed's bribery claims
The case was submitted over Ismail’s comments at a program broadcast live on Sangu Television
Ismail said he had ‘lunged around a sack of money’ for former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb and ‘distributing it on his behalf’
The letter asking officers to investigate the case also came with footage of the program

A case against MP Mohamed Ismail, who represents the Hoarafushi constituency, has been filed with the police, asking them to investigate his ‘effective confession’ that he was party to distributing cash bribes.

The case was submitted over Ismail’s comments at a program broadcast live on Sangu Television, where he said he had ‘lunged around a sack of money’ for former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb and ‘distributing it on his behalf’.

The comments insinuate that Ismail had intended to solidify Adheeb’s culpability in a large embezzlement case involving the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation.

The case filed with the police asks officers to investigate the source of the cash and Ismail’s involvement in effectively distributing bribes.

The letter asking officers to investigate the case also came with footage of the program.
