Basis founded on illegal claims, entire charge incorrect

Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim’s legal team says due to the High Court’s ruling on Qasim’s arrest, the chain of events and investigations were also based on illegal grounds and therefore null.
High Court on Thursday decreed that Criminal Court's warrant for his arrest was granted outside legal ambit.

Speaking to press following the verdict, Thulusdhoo Constituency MP Ibrahim Waheed Mohamed, part of Qasim’s legal team, said the issue of illegal grounds was noted in the High Court verdict and that this applied to the rest of the events.
He said the arrest, subsequent investigations and prosecution were carried out based on this grounds.
“I want to raise this point to PG’s attention,” he said.
Waheed said he hoped that PG will take this into consideration.
Mahchangolhi North Constituency MP and member of legal team Mariya Didi said that there will be no delay for justice when the time comes.
Lawyer Hisaan Hussain said that it was expected that Qasim will be detained for the duration of the trial, a concern shared by the rest of the team.
