A 39-year-old Indonesian man passed away on Thursday night

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that the death of the Indonesian national reported on Thursday night, is not related to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier, HPA Tweeted that the 39-year-old Indonesian man passed away due to the virus and that it was the 11th Covid-19 related death in the Maldives.

However, the authority later revealed that the death was declared a “non Covid-19 death”.

As such, HPA revealed that the man died due to stage four cancer and was being treated at the state-run Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

A 10th Covid-19 death was reported in the Maldives on Wednesday; a 92-year-old Maldivian man. He was the fifth Maldivian life to have been taken by the virus. Four Bangladeshi nationals and one national from the Philippines also fell victim to the deadly infection.

Maldives confirmed 18 new cases of the virus on Thursday along with 15 additional recoveries.

The case count currently sits at 2,400, with recoveries at 1,969.
