Six individuals were arrested in a drug bust on Monday.

Police said that an operation was conducted at sea following an intelligence report that drugs were being transported to Addu City from Thinadhoo island in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll.

Noting that the operation involved police and intel teams in Addu City, Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed revealed that 5.5kg of heroin was confiscated in the operation.

While the heroin was being transported to Addu City on a speed boat from Thinadhoo island, the police operation was launched on Monday evening.

Police continues to investigate the case.
