The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has revealed that their operations are facing a delay and interruption due to the adverse weather conditions across the Maldives.

Speaking during a press briefing on Monday night, the task force’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that NEOC operations are facing additional difficulties due to the strong monsoon activities.

As such, there have been interruptions in the task force’s operations in transferring patients from one facility to the other due to the weather which has been particularly squally in the recent days.

Highlighting that the task force is attending to these issues, Mabrook assured the public that the task force operations will proceed as swiftly as they can, in accordance with the current situation.

As of Monday night, there are 995 individuals in isolation facilities and 1,509 individuals in quarantine facilities, revealed Mabrook.

He added that six individuals have been released from facilities and samples have been taken from 64 individuals in order to release them after testing.

Also speaking at the press, Epidemiologist at the Health Protection Agency (HPA) Dr. Ibrahim Afzal, revealed that they have not noticed any particular changes to the situation within the first two days of the week and this could be because of the adverse weather conditions.

As such, he highlighted that there are the number of samples pending has also increased and HPA’s work has also been hindered due to the weather.
