The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has deployed a team of healthcare workers clad in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to screen individuals residing in quarters under the surveillance of the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
The authority revealed that they initiated the mobile medical operation for migrants living in quarters under police surveillance, on Sunday morning.

As such, a Twitter post by HPA reads that a total of 80 individuals were screened and provided the required medical assistance.
HPA further completed an assessment into the current living conditions of these migrant workers, during the operation.

The operation comes at a time the government has been facilitating the transfer of migrant workers who are forced to reside in confined living spaces in large groups in the capital Malé City, to better accommodations. As such, they are being transferred to temporary housing in Hulhumalé.
A number of Bangladeshi nationals are testing positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives and they have been deemed at high risk of contracting the virus, due to their living conditions and lifestyles.
