43 Pakistani nationals stranded in the Maldives were repatriated last week.

The Embassy of Pakistan in the Maldives made the reveal via a Twitter post on Wednesday.

The tweet reads that a total of 43 Pakistani nations in the island nation were repatriated via a flight from the Sri Lankan Airlines on Wednesday.

The embassy officials paid gratitude to the government of Maldives and Sri Lanka for the facilitation of the repatriation of their nationals.

Maldives confirmed the first-ever Pakistani Covid-19 patient in the country on April 26. Since then, three Pakistani nationals have tested positive for the infection from Maldives.

As such, a 48-year-old Pakistani man among the three is admitted at the Dharumavantha Hospital for treatment currently and he is to have been reported to require oxygen treatment due to deteriorating health.

Authorities have not disclosed further information regarding the Pakistani national at the hospital.

As part of the authorities’ efforts to repatriate the foreigners stranded in the Maldives, the government has been collaborating with the governments of foreign countries such as India as well as Bangladesh, to facilitate the large foreign communities stranded in the Maldives.
