The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that the Covid-19 recovery rate of the Maldives is significantly lower than authorities initially predicted.
Joining the daily press briefing held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Monday night, Epidemiologist at the authority, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal revealed that further information will be disclosed regarding the country’s recovery rate, after a detailed assessment.
This being said, authorities have stressed that the recovery period is taking longer than they initially predicted, compared to the number of positive cases in the island nation.
As of Tuesday, 31 Covid-19 patients have recovered from the disease in the country, the country’s recovery rate is at 3.23% of the infected patients according to the Ministry of Health’s dashboard for Covid-19 statistics.
When the first cases were discovered in the country during March, patients took about 17 days to recover.
An assessment by the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that it takes a minimum of two weeks to recover from the infection.
