The Maldives Immigration Office has revealed that over 200 Indian nationals are set to depart on the Indian Navy ship, INS Magar on Sunday.

The Indian Navy ship reached the Maldives port earlier to repatriate about 202 Indian nationals stranded in the Maldives due to the Covid-19 lockdown declared across the Greater Malé Region.

During a special interview with RaajjeTV on Sunday, the Head of Airport Immigration, Mohamed Waheed revealed that included among those being repatriated today are 25 individuals who hold expired visas.

On Friday, 698 Indian nationals were evacuated via INS Jalashwa under Operation Samudra Setu, initiated to evacuate the Indian community stranded in foreign countries.

It has since been revealed at about 1,800 Indian nationals stranded in the Maldives will be repatriated within the next two weeks.

Before being allowed to return to their respective destinations upon arriving in India, these evacuees will be quarantined for a 14-day period in Kochi.
