One out of the six patients being treated at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital, has tested negative to the first round of tests conducted for Covid-19.
This was revealed by Dr. Mohamed Ismail who joined the press briefing held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Saturday afternoon to provide the latest updates of the current Covid-19 situation in the country.
The patient has since been moved to DH17.
It was earlier revealed that six, one foreigner and five Maldivians are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
The patient who was transferred to DH17 is in stable condition but has a liver condition. One of the samples taken from the patient came back negative for Covid-19 and the results of the second sample are still pending, said the doctor.
Details of the remaining patients were also disclosed. As such, one of the patients, an 88-year-old man is not in stable condition and there is a chance for the patient’s condition to deteriorate. In light of this, doctors are keeping a close watch on the patient.
Another patient, a 49-year-old man has a fever and is being provided oxygen due to breathing difficulties.
A 58-year-old woman admitted at DH11 is also observably improving. With this improvement, doctors have stopped some of her medications, other medications will be provided for a 10-day period. The woman has been receiving treatment for the past six days.
Further, an 80-year-old man has been admitted at the hospital for about 12 days. Doctors will be providing additional medications for the patient, and the patient has developed bacterial pneumonia, his condition is observably worse than before according to X-ray scans.
The 70-year-old patient, a man, has a few other issues including loose motion and diarrhea, other than that his condition has been observed stable.
As of Saturday evening, there have been a total of 491 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Maldives out of which 17 have recovered thus far and one death has also been recorded.
