Merchants at the local market in Maldives capital, Malé City have been asked to evacuate their slots.
In a statement issued on Friday, Malé City Council revealed that local markets have been closed due to the lockdown imposed across the Greater Malé Region in accordance with the State of Public Health Emergency declared across the nation by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
Merchants at these slots have been asked to evacuate their slots by May 6.
The council will be removing anything that is left after the given deadline and disinfecting the entire market.
While the local markets have been closed due to the lockdown, the City Council has given until May 6 for merchants to evacuate their stalls and this may be done everyday from 11am to 2pm.
