Maldivian brings in perishable cargo from India

The country’s national airline, Maldivian has brought in perishable cargo from neighboring India.

With perishable goods weighing 18,801 kilograms, the cargo freighter landed at Velana International Airport on Wednesday.

The goods including fruits and vegetables, were brought from Chennai, India.

The national airline has been tirelessly working to charter flights to foreign countries to bring in cargo goods to the Maldives, at a time foreign countries have been closing their borders and banning travel due to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

As such, the airline has brought cargo goods from the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Sri Lanka as well as Thailand on previous occasions.

Further, Maldivian has also been arranging special repatriation flights to evacuate the Maldivians residing in foreign countries.

The airline has assured that they will remain steadfast in working with stakeholders in providing support and services during these challenging times.
