Authorities are placing high priority in monitoring confined living spaces of expatriate workers and Covid-19 testing is also being carried out for individuals living in these spaces.
Speaking at the routinely press briefing of the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Tuesday night, spokesperson of the task force, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that they are carrying out an active surveillance at these spaces and even collecting samples for testing.
Additional testing is carried out for those who exhibit symptoms of the virus.
Mabrook went on to highlight that most of the high number of expatriates who have tested positive for the virus were living in such places that were being monitored by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
Providing further details, Epidemiologist at HPA, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal revealed that the main purpose of active surveillance is to identify such confined living spaces and keep a close watch on them.
25 samples were collected from different regions of Maldives capital, Malé City on Tuesday alone, under the authority's community transmission survey.
