Each set of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) costs MVR 1,952, revealed that Covid-19 task force.
Spokesperson for all things Covid-19, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz detailed the state expenses in the Covid-19 response efforts thus far during Sunday night’s press briefing, where he noted that each PPE set consists of a gown, head cover, an N95 mask, gloves, face mask, biohazard kit, sanitizer, ankle boots, boot covers and a face shield.
All of these items are priced at:
- A gown for MVR 233,
- A head cover for MVR 193,
- An N95 mask for MVR 50,
- A pair of gloves for MVR 280,
- A face mask for MVR four,
- A biohazard bag for MVR 89,
- A sanitizer for MVR 110,
- A pair of ankle boots for MVR 464,
- A face shield for MVR 535 and
- Boot covers for MVR 3.60.
A total of 1,743 PPE kits have been distributed among the rapid response teams thus far and Mabrook revealed that there are 58,000 more kits in stock at the Ministry of Health.
Further, several items included in these kits are stocked at the State Trading Organization (STO).
These equipment have proven to be important in the treatment of Covid-19 patients and is vital for the frontline workers in health care.
Several health care workers in the frontlines of battling the disease worldwide are risking their lives in the battle, and some lives have been lost due to a scarcity in these equipment.
