President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has led a virtual meeting with the National Covid-19 Task Force to hold discussions regarding latest updates.
The President’s Office made the reveal via Twitter, writing that these meetings have been held every night since March 7.
Discussions at these virtual meetings, held through video conference, revolves around the latest measures taken to contain the spread of the pandemic in the Maldives.
During the virtual meeting which he joined from his residence, Mulee’aage, the president inquired on ways to strengthen the task force’s efforts to curb the spread of the disease.
Further, discussions also touched down on the situation of the community spread, which emerged on April 15 in the capital Malé City.
Extensive discussions were also held on the safety and precautionary measures that have been implemented following the lockdown declared across the Greater Malé Region.
Addressing the nation after the community transmission was discovered, the president urged the citizens to cooperate with the government and relevant authorities in combatting this pandemic, for which a vaccine is yet to be produced.
He stressed on the importance of working together as one and remain patient so as to effectively overcome the pandemic.
