The fortitude of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) officers is to make sacrifices for the country’s rights, till the very last breath of the last standing officer, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Addressing the nation in commemoration of the 128th Armed Forced Day of the Maldives, the president extended the occasion’s good wishes to the Minister of Defense and National Security, Mariya Ahmed Didi, the Chief of Defense Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal as well as Senior officers, officers of all ranks and their families.
Highlighting that MNDF is the “protective shield” of the country and its people, Solih noted that the officers are currently working with the same determination to save the Maldivian people as well as the country’s independence, by working on the frontlines of battling the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
As such, shedding light on the “risky” work being done by the officers with the determination to maintain the peoples’ safety, Solih commended their efforts to maintain the independence and safety of the country and the Maldivian people.
Further, the president expressed sincere gratitude to the families of these hardworking officers, for their patience during these challenging times.
During his address, the president also noted that 2019 was a year of success for MNDF officers. As such, they shone through commendable efforts during crisis on several occasions such as the severe flooding experiences across outlying islands during Eid-Al-Adha, the capsizing of a speedboat in Nolhivaranfaru and especially during the devastating fire that ravaged several houses on Abadhahfehi Magu of Henveiru-ward and the oil bowser fire incident.
He extended gratitude to the officers who put their lives at risk to save lives during these times of national crisis and he expressed his belief that 2019 brought some of the biggest achievements to the authority.
The president went on to express hope that the officers will continue succeeding and reminding themselves that they are connected to the hopes of the Maldivian people.
