The Maldives industrial fisheries company, MIFCO has halted its delivery services.
The company revealed that this was done as a precautionary measure for the safety of their staff, as well as customers during a time the number of Covid-19 cases in the Greater Malé region has been skyrocketing.
Further, it has been revealed that registered companies will have access to MIFCO’s services upon arrival at their stores in Hulhumalé as well as the capital’s Maafannu district.
These services will be provided from 09:30am to 6pm.
MIFCO’s Manager, Nawaz Rasheed told RaajjeMV that the decision was reached in order to maintain the safety of their employees.
The company had over 1,000 orders when the delivery service was brought to an end. As such, discussions are underway to manage the orders that have already been paid for.
Those who have placed their orders may still acquire services through their stores, however, customers have been urged to wear masks and gloves so as to ensure everyone’s safety during such a critical time.
Social and physical distancing has also been urged from the customers.
MIFCO revealed that they are grateful for the customers who have shown patience during these challenging times, where deliveries across the capital from several stores are experiencing delays due to a spike in orders.
This comes at a time several stores are shutting their doors and halting services after a few individuals in delivery teams contracted the Covid-19.
The Greater Malé Region has been locked down since Wednesday and the lockdown will remain until 30 April.
