A team of 10 medical professionals from Bangladesh is set to arrive in the Maldives on Monday evening.
This was revealed by the government spokesperson for all thing Covid-19, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz during a press briefing on Monday afternoon.
As such, he revealed that this team will be arriving in a flight arriving with a group of over 80 individuals including Maldivian students stuck in Nepal and Bangladesh.
While the flight is to arrive at around 4:30pm on Monday, it will travel back with 70 undocumented Bangladeshi workers in the Maldives.
While a number of Bangladeshi workers are testing positive to the pandemic since the first community transmission of the disease surfaced last week, the authorities have stressed that they are at a high-risk of contracting the virus as they live in small, overcrowded spaces in the congested capital.
As such, a total of 17 Bangladeshi nationals have tested positive to the infection in Maldives including two on Monday.
Earlier, the neighboring country donated 100 tonnes of free aid to the island nation, which includes staple food items, fruits, vegetables as well as essential medicines.
